The Barents Region is extremely rich and has great economic potential, with vast natural resources and unique environmental values. Major investments are under way in new oil and gas fields in the Barents Sea.
The industry structure of the Barents Region is dominated by medium-sized and very large industries within the steel, forest, paper, ore and mineral branches and within the fishing, gas and oil branches, tourism is also very important sector.
